What is PIE?
Partner in Education (PIE) is a sponsorship program that allows local classrooms to venture outdoors to the Valley Nature Center and see nature up close and personally. Your role in sponsoring a classroom will have a lasting value for the students attending the nature field trip!
It’s easy, it’s educational, it’s instilling lasting values. It’s watching kids’ eyes light up seeing a Texas Tortoise for the very first time. It’s the right thing to do!
By sponsoring a local Valley classroom, you are basically paying the cost of a nature field trip to the VNC.
The VNC educates over 6000 students each year, instilling the importance of our natural heritage that surrounds us. Many of today's students never had a chance to play outdoors in a pasture full of wild critters. They never had the chance to experience nature up close. A wide void has been left in many of today's children because they never “bonded” with nature. If we truly want to preserve some natural habitat for the next generation, we need to find that very special bond that recognizes nature’s importance in our daily lives.
By sponsoring one or several classrooms through this program, you not only feel the satisfaction of helping a youngster “bond” with nature, you will be rewarded by being recognized in the local community as a sponsor of education. In today's world nothing is more important than a diverse education.
- You will receive a plaque that recognizes you as a local PIE Sponsor.
- You will be listed on a special PIE page on the VNC web page.
- You will be recognized in the VNC newsletter, The Hummer.
- You will receive a picture of one of the classes at the VNC that you sponsored.
PIE sponsorship is only $100 per classroom. You may sponsor as many classes as you wish.
