Kid’s Nature Photo Camp Offered in July |
Professional nature photographer Ruth Hoyt has once again teamed up with the Valley Nature Center in Weslaco to offer the center’s third annual Kids’ Nature Photo Camp for Rio Grande Valley youngsters. Ruth is a wonderful teacher and loves the outdoors. Her biographical information is at the end of this page. This awesome camp is offered to enthuse, entertain and educate young people about both nature and photography. Participants will spend part of the time in a classroom setting to learn the basic functions and operation of digital cameras. At other times the youngsters will go outdoors to photograph nature subjects at the Valley Nature Center. Handouts containing information discussed during the camp will also be provided. Thanks to a Texas Parks & Wildlife grant, digital cameras will be available for use during the camp. However if you wish to bring your own camera, both film and digital cameras are welcome. If you do bring your own camera, participants should bring their own cameras, film and/or flash cards, and will be responsible for any processing fees..The four day camp runs from Tuesday through Friday, July 15-18, 2008 for youths aged 8-14 years. Camp begins each day at 10:00am and ends at 2:00pm. A light lunch and drinks is provided each day. Cost for the camp is only $120.
