What is Dragonfly Days? The Rio Grande Valley is known to be one of the most biologically diverse areas in North America. Here the sub-tropics meet the more temperate north, dessert meet ocean, and the confluences of east meets west. More birds and butterflies are found in this four county area than in most states. Odonates, dragonflies and damselflies, are plentiful as well, and many are found nowhere else in the U.S. Dragonfly Days will allow you to immerse yourself in these environments and find new odonates each day. Field trips guided by experts are offered for three days, as well as seminars by nationally know odonata gurus. A keynote banquet will feature dragons and damsels at their best! It is an action packed, yet very cozy and laid back event that celebrates these shimmering creatures. Come join us for fun in the field, awesome facts from the seminars, and friendship all around! |
