This list was compiled by Martin Hagne of the VNC's staff.  It represents all sightings of birds at the VNC reported since 1995 and is presented using a color-coded scheme to show when the species may be expected.  

The following codes apply:

Green - Year round resident and breeding

Brown - Not present in winter

Violet - Not present in summer

Red - Spring and Fall (Migration) only

Blue - Winter only

* - New record for Valley

Underlined - nesting observed in VNC
